A Red Red Rose

In addition to teacup candles, I also make cake stands from vintage china. Well I wanted to share this delightful two tier cake stand which I made for my sister:

 

The china is a very simple pattern with just three red roses, and can you believe the two plates are actually different makes? They are exactly the same! 

All that's missing are some delightful cakes, so hopefull when I take it to my sister at the weekend, she will ahve baked something to put on it!

Hello Monday

Hello, how are you? Hopefully you're not suffering the Monday Blues like me today. What is it about sunny weekends followed by skanky wet Mondays that makes us want to crawl back under the duvet and stay there til the next weekend...?

So, in order to add some brightness and some cheeriness to this otherwise grey and wet day, I'm sharing some pics I took last week when the sun was gloriously shining down on us. These pics are the newset addition to my growing teaset collection.

Cake stands with a difference

I sometimes end up with a selection of odd plates left over from tea sets and I recently started putting these together and creating vintage style cake stands with the mis-matched plates.

The newest additions to the collection are now complete, and they had their first photo shoot out in the garden this morning.

Arty Farty

I'm always looking for new ways to take photos of my items, and although I only have a regular point and shoot camera, I think it holds up quite well. I thought I'd share some 'arty farty' pics from a recent event I did, as I'm quite impressed with how they turned out.

China, China!

As my little Princess Crafts empire grows, so does my china collection! The latest additions to the collection is thanks to Hubby who picked these lovelies up at a boot fair last week.

 

I haven't yet decided whether these will become candles or form part of the Vintage Hire range, but for now they are looking lovely on my windowsill, and I know that they will take part in my Royal Wedding Tea Party next week.  

Has anyone else got any new favourite thrifty finds?

Flowers in a teacup

I'm always thinking of new things to do with the china that I find, and after seeing a fellow tweeter's beautiful website, I was inspired to create some mini flower arrangements.

This is a rather large teacup which I feel is too big to become a candle, so I bought some oasis in the florist and popped some roses into it! I always have flowers in the house, whether they be cheap and cheerful ones out the supermarket or ones my Hubby buys me (I am a lucky lady to have a hubby who buys flowers most weeks). Sometimes I get bored just popping them in a vase, so I think this is a really cute idea!

The oasis was really cheap and I managed to buy small pieces that are already round shaped. This meant that I only had a little wastage, and as the second cup I used was quite small, I only needed one oasis cut in half  for both cups!

I arranged the roses in a circle around the edge of the cup but quite close together and then used the largest rose for the middle. The gypsophila is perfect for filling in the gaps and adding a bit of depth and texture.

I ran out of roses halfway through this one so used some pink carnations I had. This teacup might turn out to be a birthday pressie for my Nan-in-Law next month...

I also have a super cute teapot and a sugar bowl which might be my next experiment!

Vintage cake plates

In a bid to find the perfect teacups to turn into candles, I sometimes end up buying a whole teaset. This is not usually a problem as I totally love everything I buy, even if it would look totally out of place in my house!

This goregous black flowery print is one of my absolute faves:

 

The  teacups look great as candles, and I even turned the sugar bowl into a large candle. 

 

When I buy large sets, I often end up with an odd cup or saucer, but with this set I had two large cake plates and 9 tea plates. So one of the tea plates became the 'saucer' for the sugar bowl candle and then one cake plate and four of the teaplates became a raffle prize for the Christmas Bazaar I did in December. 

The remaining plates are all mine!! I simply cannot bear to part with them, so they have taken up residence in my sideboard, eagerly awaiting the next tea party! They have already had a trial run...

I think these plates make the cakes look even yummier than usual, but that's just me!

Pink teacups!!
